Which is why shopping for presents usually leads to 2 things: clothes, or a pygmalion gift.
It was during the present-season dilemmas that I asked GY what he was using to shave his face. I'd noticed that his entire chin was riddled with red bumpy ingrowns, but thought it was simply his lack of a skincare regime and failure to exfoliate regularly.
"Nothing, just water."
Whaaat?? Just water?? Not even shaving foam? Turns out he had used regular store-bought shaving foams before but it irritated his skin even more. Plus, I know that it was an excuse to spend less time shaving.
So, it was sensitive, dehydrated fragile skin, with no buffer from the blade. Each shave (regular 4-blade razor, the best a man can get) was really scraping off the upper layer of his epidermis. That's really awful.
I started my online quest for organic shaving foam, since I'm convinced that organic products are especially beneficial to sensitive skin. However, most needed a traditional brush to lather and were difficult to find in Singapore anyway. Hell would freeze over before GY would spend anything longer than 5 min at the sink.
Then I found this.
Omg. Can you feel how excited I got?? It's a shaving foam and a face wash. Score! I didn't find any reviews so I bit the bullet and went for it.
I was really anxious for GY to try it and could barely wait till Christmas without spoiling the surprise. I hung around the bathroom peeping in now and then when he finally used it for the first time.
This is the back of the bottle. Ingredients are mostly certified organic.
The foam. It lathers pretty well, but if you're used to products with SLS you may find it too thin.
The smell comes off abit strong and herbally at first, but after rinsing there's a light, earthy masculine scent. Sexy.
When GY was done he simply said, "It's ok, quite smooth, doesn't irritate." And that was it. Meh.
Fast forward 3 months and I only recently noticed his face again. Guess what? There were no bumps! I was surprised to feel the lower half of his face smooth and soft, with hardly an ingrown. Not so surprised at his upper half which is the same as it's always been - parched, oily and fragile.
Amazing product! Although its pricey, any product that can convert my lazy ass husband to use it is definitely a keeper.
Verdict: 100% Rave
So much so that now I'm dying to see whether he will use the 2-in-1 moisturiser and aftershave.
